I haven’t been posting for a long time… way longer than I would like…
Mainly it’s thanks to health issues that keep me from doing what I enjoy. I am suffering from a neural muscular disease called Charcot Marie Tooth.
It’s a progressive little pain in the ass. In my case, the nerves in the legs and arms mainly are dying off and leave me with gaps in the body’s information delivery. Instead of feeling the legs firmly on the ground and my bum in the comfy office chair, I get pins and needles, cramps and massive pain signaled to the brain.
It gets worse every now and then and I need to adjust my mental blockade to deal with it. In the end, I can put it aside as ‘white noise’.
At the moment I struggle ‘building the blockade’ fast enough to keep up with the pain…

Let me say a big thanks to all for the support and feedback I received.
I took time off and tried to get some rest. Currently, I am working on a way to deal with the aches and pains without turning to medication. Slowly but surely, I am getting there and hope to post the next tutorial really soon.

Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I hope that you get better soon. I recently recover from a six months dizziness episode. It's hard, but as you know, life is too short to let a disease won the daily battles.

Wow, what a terrible disease (I just looked it up). I feel you, man. My mom had a similar disease called Guillain Barre Syndrome – the myelin sheathe around her nerves were attacked by her immune system causing pins and needles/numbness to then affecting her motor and autonomic system. She was paralyzed for a month and required a machine to help her breathe. Hers was caused by the H1N1 vaccine, and since she got it 5 years ago, she is still not independent today.
With GBS, there is no cure but there is treatment – and with lots and lots of physical and occupational therapy, it helps the patient, which sounds similar to your case. As for pain, there are nerve-specific pain killers but you'd have to work with a neurologist for that.
I'm very sorry to hear that you have this awful disease. I hope you are able to see a doctor for more guidance. I'm an expert for my mom's case (but not for all GBS nor nerve disease cases). If you want to talk, let me know here, and I'll contact you via email.

Hang in there, Chris. I've got a metabolic disease that causes constant pain in my legs – it's actually how I got into game design (trying to transition from film, since my legs can't handle it anymore). Just wanted you to know that as a non-artist, trying to learn enough rudimentary art skills to support my own development, your tutorials have been the most valuable resource I've found.
Get well soon Chris! Maybe you can write now some articles about dealing with something that blocks what you wish to do the most, I am sure we can all apply that to one thing or other

Very sad to hear about your condition. I hope you'll learn to cope with it somehow. We all love your amazing tutorials. Did a course at universiy about Game Design last semester and everybody there learned one thing or another (or very many things :)) from what you tell people.
