Using filters and creating a complete project in Inkscape

Inkscape Video Tutorials

I uploaded a new Inkscape video tutorial to my YouTube channel. It’s an introduction to filters and turning flat objects into something that looks more 3D.

It’s been a while since I recorded the last video tutorial. A lot happened [and is still happening]. We had a cyclone and floods, my office and my computer were affected. The first is [yet again] empty and a building site and the second has been replaced with a new machine.

I am no expert on the filters in Inkscape and have to admit that the filter editor still does my head in… but when approaching it through some of the existing filters and altering just a few parameters that control the spread, light, or depth of a filter even I could get results close enough to what I had in mind. Filters are an awesome tool [for some applications] and I will try to shine more light on them [as there will be an overhaul in v.1.4].
Play around with them! They can be a lot of fun!

It was good to get back into making some tutorial videos. I had fun creating this and learning something new in the process.
